The Program

The detailed final programme will be available 3 weeks before the conference. As an orientation please consult the 2010 conference Template-Esquise or program schedule to get an impression how the conference is organized on the daily basis (or ask the organizers if you have any special question) . Most arrivals/ departures are on Saturdays and full working days are Sunday through Friday (6 days) with an excursion to Dubrovnik planned on Tuesday afternoon-evening.

The Scope of the 6th Conference

Following the success of our first five conferences in this series, the 6th conference will continue the cross-disciplinary approach toward the emerging understanding of the living matter, which given its enormous complexity may require some of the techniques and approaches elaborated in solid state physics or contemporary bio-sciences. The interdisciplinary discussion of carefully selected leading experts in solid state, soft-matter and bio-sciences will take place in a relaxed yet rigorous, stimulating setting.
Especially we feel a close relation with specialists in nanoscience whose expertise is at the length-scales of biological structures. New techniques, new approaches to living matter are also the subject of the conference. The Mediterranean atmosphere at the Adriatic coast gives a convivial background for interdisciplinary experiences.

Full BioPhysics VI fee is EUR600.- (it includes foods, refreshments, evening parties, the banquet, the boat excursion ... see F.A.Q. for further  details). Students' Fee is Euro300.- (please contact Perfect Meetings for inexpensive accommodation). All students are asked to present a poster. Best posters win special prizes!

The 2012 Pierre-Gilles de Gennes Prize:  NOMINATIONS please

The spirit of the conference is the best illustrated by the life-work of Nobel laureate, late Pierre-Gilles de Gennes who was the member of the Advisory Committee and himself a participant in 2006. In his memory, and with a support of his family and the EPFL, we have established a prize which carries his name for outstanding young scientists in biophysics, with an initial background in condensed matter - please see the attached 2008 award and prize description.

Nominations are most welcome until the 31st of March 2012 !

Important Deadlines:

Abstracts:   Until the 31st of March 2012
Registrations:  Until the 12th of May 2012
